Subject #1: Expressive Drawing

Fall and Winter Term with Bernat Barris


The exercises of the Expressive Drawing course consist in capturing short poses of a nude model. Students experience a less analytical and more sensitive type of drawing, having the opportunity to explore and learn how to mix different techniques and colours.

Objectives

  • Elaborate on the contents related to drawing the human figure, beyond the static referent, by developing the student’s expressiveness.
  • Educate the observation skills, the visual analysis and ability to synthesise when capturing the nude in order to achieve a more expressive representation.
  • Increase anatomy knowledge to better and correctly understand the representation of the human body.
  • Achieve a high level of creative expression in the representation of the human figure.
  • Apply in a creative and individual way the artistic techniques and procedures on each exercise.
  • Deepen the student’s intuitive and expressive abilities, and their manifestation when drawing the human figure.
  • Forget about the academic rigidity, analytical calculations and control, allowing the creativity to come out.

Subject #2: Dynamic Drawing

Spring Term with Roser Masip Boladeras


The exercises of the Dynamic Drawing course consist in capturing short poses and rhythmic sequences of a nude model. The student learns concepts in a more impulsive and graphic way to express and outline continuous movement. Concepts of gesture, graphic and spontaneity will help the student convey his message.

Objectives

  • Elaborate on the contents related to drawing the human figure, beyond the static model, by developing the student’s dynamic possibilities.
  • Educate the observation skills, the visual analysis and ability to synthesise when capturing the model’s movement in order to achieve an enhanced representation.
  • Master the codes of visual memory to be able to draw from memory the model’s poses and attitudes when moving fast and with short poses.
  • Increase anatomy knowledge to better and correctly understand the representation of movement.
  • Achieve a high level of creative expression in the representation of movement.
  • Apply in a creative and individual way the artistic techniques and procedures on each exercise.
  • Deepen the student’s intuitive and expressive abilities, and their manifestation in dynamic drawing.
  • Develop the creative spirit for the student to achieve his/her unique style when representing movement.

Registrations

Registration

Registrations are open throughout the year and we admit new students at the beginning of each period. Depending on the term in which the student wants to join, there are registration deadlines. The minimum registration time is always of a term and from there, students can continue their study period. Students can take courses in a continous matter or choose to take a break in between enrollments.

Place Reservation

  • Students can join at the beginning of a period (October-January-March). See School Calendar.
  • Applications are only accepted online (the form is available at the bottom of this page and at the top left corner of the course page), or by filling out the form at the Academy.
  • The Admissions Department takes 2 to 20 days to reply.
  • During the admissions process, all applications received before the deadline will be considered, even if the student did not receive an immediate reply after submitting his/her application. Applications received after the deadline (those received after the maximum allowed time) will go on the waiting list of the chosen period.
  • Should there be no available places for the chosen period, the application will automatically be placed on the next available term.

Method of Payment

  • All payments are to be made by bank wire transfer to the account number that is detailed in the place confirmation email.
  • Once the student is admitted, he/she is required to confirm his/her place by making a non-refundable deposit. The non-refundable deposit equals to a 10% of the total of the course the student enrolled in.
  • The remaining of the registration fees is to be paid within the dates detailed in the place confirmation email, which equal to the payment of the term the student enrolled in and it is always paid in advance. If the non-refundable deposit is not paid, the student’s place becomes automatically available to the next student on the waiting list.
  • Students can ask for a refund (except for the non-refundable deposit amount), which will be refunded according to the Academy’s internal policy.
  • If any changes need to be made after the student’s place is confirmed, an administrative fee will be applied.
  • If a student is absent for a long period of time without justification, he/she cannot ask for a refund for the course fees.
