Grzegorz Gwiazda

Grzegorz Gwiazda was born in 1984 in Lidzbark Warminski, Poland. He studied Fine Arts at Poznan and Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, and later received a scholarship to study at Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, Italy. He graduated with honors from the Warsaw Academy of Arts (ASP) in 2009. He studied sculpture with professor Adam Myjak. He finished his Ph.D. in 2014. Grzegorz has been working as professor Maciej Zychowicz’s Assistant since 2009 at the Graphics and Sculpture Department of the Artistic Institute in the Special Education School (IEA ASP) in Warsaw.

He received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in 2008 and 2009, and a scholarship from Inicjatywa Entra (Entry Initiative) in 2010. His artwork called Behold the man (Oto Człowiek) was honored at the International Figurative Art Contest in 2010, organized by the Fundació de les Arts i els Artistes (Fine Arts and Artists Foundation) in Barcelona, Spain.

His artwork has been shown at private art exhibitions in different cities and Polish towns – Lidzbark Warminski, (Warmia Episcopal Castle in 2008), Warsaw (Promocyjna Art Gallery in 2011, Fibak Art Gallery in 2013, 101 Projekt Art Gallery in 2014) , Poznan and Mosina in 2013, and Bydgoszcz (Wspolna Art Gallery in 2013). His sculptures have also been shown at art exhibitions together with other artists in Poland and abroad – Coming Out: the best ASP graduates in Warsaw, 2009, Art Exhibition from Professors and Graduates from the ASP Sculpture Department in Warsaw, 2012, Madrid in 2010 and 2011, and Barcelona in 2011. His artwork is also part of the Modern Art European Museum art collection in Barcelona.
